FunflyStick: Levitate Objects with Static Electricity

by

I don’t know why this magic wand isn’t being aggressively marketed towards Harry Potter fans. It works like a portable Van de Graaff generator, creating enough static electricity to levitate the tinsel-like fliers. I’m sure the more innovative among you can find plenty of other uses for it. Amazon has them cheap. Or you can get them from thinkgeek.

There are several reasons why the wand had not been marketed to Harry Potter fans. First reason is copyright rights. We cannot market it as Harry Potter’s wand without licensing it which ultimately means that we have to pay a large chunk of money for licensing before we even produce a single wand. Then we have to pay the commission on the sale of every wand for the rights to use the name. Is worth it from business point of view? It is arguable.

Not going into more details on licensing expenses, I will jump right to the main reason.
FunFlyStick is a toy of a new concept, battery operated electrostatic toy that can levitate light mylar shapes. It is one of a kind like an invention of Lionel Electric Train in early 1900. Calling it Harry Potter’s wand right from the beginning means to simply level it up with everything else, stick it into the crowd of other “magic” or “Harry Potter” wands, make it compete with others, while the is really one of a kind.

In the future, however, it is one of the options we may consider.

All excellent points. As someone who once worked in a pet store, I empathize with those who don’t wish to be typecast in with the latest craze. The poor pet store workers having to endure dozens of people loudly exclaiming, “look! it’s Nemo!” every day in reference to a wide variety of interesting and exotic clown fish.

I was not expressing a desire that you market it as such, just surprise that there wasn’t a purple clad kid with round glasses waving it about on the box. I truly do think it is an excellent invention, and I may pick up a FunFlyStick for myself in order to do a more accurate review.

The FunFlyStick, try as I may, but I find it impossible to get a contact on the email or anyway else, to talk with me on this item.
I want to buy one, BUT I dont trust any form of money transfer like technology used
on the internet, as far as I am concerned, that is OUT, totally out. I want to submit cash AND BUY ONE, post them in the good old fashion reliable way MAIL envelope.
BUT can I do this……no hope , and its a bit like Companies advertizing all over the
place WITHOUT ANY FORM OF CONTACT whatsoever, this amazes me. You will find beautiful colored brochures acattered all over the Country, but you try to find
out WHERE THEY ARE SITUATED, and you have NO HOPE. Look for a telephone
number, and you will FIND they DONT EXIST…..so try to get a Postal address, and
there is NOT any…..how do these companies survive, I have no idea.

NOW all I want to do is buy one of these gadgets, and although the WEb is all about
the item for sale……how do I do that, because remember I WILL NOT PAY money by any form of electronic transfer , so scrub that idea, and now what do I do ?
If you have any idea how I can purchase one, kindly let me know, that would be very much appreciated.
    Good health & good luck.

An interesting dilemma Neil. If it eases your mind any, I’ve ordered online from both amazon and thinkgeek repeatedly and found them and their electronic systems to be exceedingly safe and reliable, likely more so than the brick and mortars; that said, being of a rather Libertarian Mindset, I can understand you not wanting to be any more a part of the beast than necessary. Here is the contact information for the company.

Their Headquarters is in the U.S.
They can be contacted by e-mail via info@unitechtoys.com
